Natural Preservation & De-Salting Instructions
Akkawi is lightly salted in brine to preserve it naturally. Before using it for desserts such as Kunafa, it should be de-salted:
Slice the cheese into 1 cm thick pieces
Soak in cold tap water for 8 hours, changing the water if needed
Remove and pat dry with kitchen towel before use
This simple process reveals the cheese’s true mild, creamy character — perfect for sweet creations.
